Having left Lymington at 5.30am it was a bit spooky to arrive in Cherbourg at 5.30pm. The impressive sailing bit for any sailing nerd readers follows. We hauled up the sails just outside Lymington on a Starboard tack and dropped them entering Cherbourg Harbour on the same tack not having to make a single change of tack through the whole journey. Exactly to Nick’s navigation plan. The crossing was a bit lumpy in parts with the wind building up through the afternoon requiring 2 reefs in the Mainsail.
A bit of a challenge given we don’t have our sea legs on yet.
72 miles in 12 hours.
Today has been a recovery day, a lie in and a nice lunch in town, early night as we are off again tomorrow for an overnight sail to our next point of arrival.
